Acting Senate President receives Korean delegation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Acting Senate President, Marouf Bakhit, Wednesday, discussed with a Korean parliamentary delegation ways to strengthen bilateral relations, especially parliamentary ones.

During a meeting with the visiting delegation, Bakhit pointed to the ties between the two countries over fifty years, and Jordan's keenness to upgrade them in all fields, expressing his appreciation for Korea's support for Jordan.

He reviewed the Senate's combination and functions, the reform process led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, achievements in the areas of the constitution and legislation and the development of national institutions.

The two sides also discussed, in the presence of senates and Korean Ambassador Choi Hong, opportunities to increase bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, economy, education, culture and tourism.

The two sides also reviewed the latest developments, the current political situation in the region, and the efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East and resolve the Palestinian - Israeli conflict, according to the two-state solution, in addition to the Syrian crisis and international efforts in the war on terrorism and extremism.

The President of the Korean Jordanian friendship Commission in the National Assembly of South Korea, Lee Cheol Woo, stressed his keenness to further develop bilateral ties, to achieve common interests, praising the role of Jordan in the region, its developmental achievements and status as an "oasis of security and stability." He valued highly Jordan's efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in supporting peace and stability in the region, countering terrorism, and hosting Syrian refugees.
