Bahrain, US Mondelez sign USD90m deal for biscuit factory


(MENAFN) Bahrain's Industry and Commerce Ministry said that it has signed an agreement with Mondelez International's Bahrain project Director for a new biscuit factory, which will be built in the country, with an initial investment of USD90 million, Gulf Daily News reported.

Under the agreement, 250.000 square metere of industrial land in the Salman Industrial City, Hidd will be leased to the American multinational confectionery, food and beverage conglomerate for the construction of the factory.

Mondelez said that this project marks its second in the kingdom after it has already invested more than USD75 million in developing a Kraft Cheese and Tang powdered-beverage plant in Bahrain which has been operational since 2008 and has a production capacity of 11.000 tons per year.

The project will join other large projects located in Salman Industrial City which currently attracts a large number of industrial projects and includes a modern industrial zone such as Bahrain International Investment Park which contains 105 industrial projects.
