UAE consider importing natural gas from Qatar

(MENAFN) The United Arab Emirates Energy Ministry said that country is currently in talks with Qatar to discuss the possibility of importing more fuel from the country through the Dolphin pipeline, as the UAE looks for ways to meet the surging domestic demands for gas, Times of Oman reported.

The Ministry also said that the UAE is also working on boosting its imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and developing its own deposits of high-sculpture, or sour gas.

The UAE, which is the fifth-biggest producer in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), needs gas to generate electricity for a growing population and expanding energy-intensive industries such as aluminum and steel.
