(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A 28-year-old Bangladeshi worker, Y.R, was on Tuesday sentenced to two years in jail and while his 33-year-old compatriot friend, M.A, was awarded five-year imprisonment in absentia for stealing 34 air-conditioning units from a warehouse.
The Fujairah Criminal Court also ordered the deportation of both convicts after serving their jail terms.
In October last year, the owner of a company, which sells and instals air-conditioners, reported to the police that his warehouse located in Al Hail Industrial Area had been burgled and 34 AC units stolen.
He told the police that he suspected a 28-year-old Bangladeshi identified as Y.R and his compatriot friend, as a security guard saw them loitering in the vicinity on the day the crime happened. Undercover sleuths found out that Y.R and his friend and coworker M.A were behind the theft.
Y.R took advantage of the trust bestowed on him by the owner of the company where he was working and made a duplicate copy of the warehouse key which was entrusted to him. He carried out the crime with the help of his accomplice.
