China's trade surplus up 45.9 percent in 2014

(MENAFN) China's trade surplus increase by 45.9 percent to USD380 billion in 2014 as exports surged and imports contracted in the world's second-largest economy, AFP reported.

Exports increased 4.9 percent to USD2.33 trillion in 2014, while imports fell 0.6 percent to USD1.96 trillion, the General Administration of Customs said. It did not immediately provide dollar totals.

On an annual basis, exports increased 9.9 percent on-year to USD228.4 billion during the final month of last year, while imports fell 2.3 percent to USD177.82 billion, Customs figures showed.

"Bilateral trade with EU and US maintained a steady growth while that with Japan and the Hong Kong SAR shrank and that with emerging markets demonstrated momentum," Customs spokesman said.
