Pakistan, US reiterate commitment to fight terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) US Secretary of State John Kerry in a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that Washington would continue to support Islamabad in effectively combating terrorism.

According to an official press release, Sharif said that in order to counter terrorism and extremism in the country, the government has evolved a comprehensive National Action Plan, which is being implemented to completely eradicate all terrorists and extremists from Pakistani soil.

Kerry extended condolences of the US government and people on the tragic Peshawar massacre and said that terrorists are the common enemy of the two countries.

Pakistani premier said, "US is a vital component of Pakistan's foreign policy." He also highlighted Pakistan's focus on greater market access for Pakistani products and US investment in Pakistan to create job opportunities. Kerry, who arrived Pakistan after visiting India, is due to meet Pakistan Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif and expected to meet Pakistan's political leadership to discuss bilateral relations and the regional security situation.
