Police urges public to not crowd near accident sites

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Abu Dhabi Police have urged the public not to crowd around near accident sites in order to ensure everyone's safety.

The announcement is in line with the ongoing security campaign organised by the Radio Branch of the Security Media Department, the General Secretariat of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al Ameri, Head of the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, said in a radio show that crowding near accident sites is a disruptive habit, which may impede traffic and prevent rescue, ambulance and fire fighting teams from carrying out their duties. He said that such behaviour is commonly observed as soon as any type of accident occurs.

"This is an unacceptable behaviour that reflects a lack of awareness among community members who are oblivious of the fact that their crowding around accident sites impedes the efforts to help the injured in a timely manner," he continued.

Lt-Colonel Al Ameri added that despite repeated calls urging the public not to crowd around near accident sites, some still persistently do the same.

This, in turn, leads to further human and material losses caused by accidents.
