Pope Francis praises Jordan for hosting refugees

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Pope Francis, on Monday, praised the Jordanian spirit of hospitality towards refugees from the Middle East countries.

In his traditional annual speech to the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See, the Pope said, "I encountered this spirit of openness in Jordan, which I visited at the beginning of my pilgrimage to the Holy Land." He referred to the efforts made to assist refugees from other countries of the Middle East.

Director General of the Catholic Centre for Studies and Media, Father Rifat Bader, said that the Pope mentioned Jordan in the second part of his speech after he reviewed, in the first part, numerous tragedies and conflicts that have occurred or continued in the past year, focusing on the culture of exclusion, violence and extremism that is sweeping the world, especially in the Arab region.
