PDO employees mark Oman Environment Day


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) To mark Oman Environment Day Petroleum Development Oman (PDO)'s employees participated in a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness on environmental issues and protection.

The company's activities included a beach clean-up where over 70 staff volunteers joined hands with local community members in Darsait beach in Muscat. It also hosted a public talk on the Arabian leopard by Hadi al Hakmani wildlife biologist from the Office for Conservation of the Environment (OCE) at Diwan of Royal Court.

Said al Saqri PDO's EcOman curator welcomed many visitors in a three-day exhibit stall which was part of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs environment day exhibition at Qurum Natural Park.

The launch of PDO's first-ever sustainability report was a historic event in the company's long term commitment to ensuring its operations and activities are performed in an environmentally sustainable manner and in accordance to Oman's rules laws and regulations. Across the company's interior camps staff and contractors worked together to clean-up the camps and surrounding areas.

Furthermore for 2015 the internal focus was to tackle waste management where various teams are working on improving their waste management life cycle performance.

Participating in the beach clean-up in Darsait was a wonderful experience and gave me the opportunity to meet with other colleagues and local residents who care about protecting the unique nature we are blessed with in Oman.'
