Volkswagen's global sales hit over 10m vehicles

(MENAFN) German automaker Volkswagen (VW) confirmed Sunday it sold 10.14 million vehicles worldwide in 2014, a 4.2 percent growth over 2013, QNA reported.

It is the first time the automaker's worldwide sales were a double-digit million figure, local media reported.

VW announced its sales results ahead of a two-day press preview event at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

The company said its sales in Asia were up 11.3 percent, topping 4 million vehicles for the first time. Most of those sales - 3.7 million - were in China, the company said.
