UAE- BJP has all right to expand in AP

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) We want the BJP to expand with a positive outlook but that does not mean we will work against the TDP" said BJP President Amit Shah.

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) president Amit Shah has made it clear that he had every right to ensure that his party grows in all the states including Andhra Pradesh where the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is its alliance partner at the centre.

“We want the BJP to expand with a positive outlook but that does not mean we will work against the TDP which is a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the centre” the BJP president who was on a three-day tour of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to strengthen the party base said.

Dismissing speculation that all was not well between the BJP and the TDP Shah said the two parties would together for the development of not only Andhra Pradesh but the entire country. “In our kind of multi-party democracy system BJP’s intention is to move forward on the basis of its ideology. We will go to the people of Andhra and tell them about our ideology and leadership” he said adding that the NDA government would extend all support to Andhra Pradesh as per the federal structure.

“We definitely want Andhra Pradesh to develop and prosper. In the federal structure without showing favoritism the union government will give priority to Andhra Pradesh and give all kind of support” he said.

“Any person who subscribes to the party ideology is welcome to join the party” the BJP president said in response to queries on several Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh expressing their desire to join the party.

Commenting on the economic growth of the country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi Shah said that within a short period of seven months the growth rate had risen from 4.5 per cent to 5.7 per cent and this upward trend would continue under Modi’s leadership.

“India’s international relations have tremendously improved and many countries are accepting our economic policies” he said.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu Union Commerce Minister (independent charge) Nirmala Sitharaman BJP MP and party’s Andhra Pradesh unit president K Haribabu and others were also present.

Venkaiah Naidu pointing out that Congress was practically non-existent in AP now said the BJP would definitely occupy that political space.

“I am confident that under the combination of Modi and Shah (prime minister and party president) we will be able to expand further and strengthen our base across the country. In the coming days our focus will be more on east and south because these are two areas where there is scope for expansion” the union minister said.

“There is political vacuum also. There is lot of response coming for the BJP in Andhra Pradesh. There is a vacuum because Congress is practically out. That space is open now” he said adding that after Shah took over the mantle of the party leadership there was no stopping the BJP.

Shah who has been focused on expanding the party in south and eastern states of the country set a target of enrolling 4.5 million members in Andhra Pradesh.
