German automakers sales hit record in 2014


(MENAFN) German automakers BMW, Daimler and Volkwagen said their leading brands attained record sales in 2014, driven by rising demand in all regions, Arab News reported.

Top-of-the-range maker BMW said sold a total 2.118 million units of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles, which represented a 7.9 percent increase from the year before.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz cars rose 12.9 percent to 1.65 million, its fourth straight year of record demand. "Mercedes-Benz is on a course of success," said chief executive.

Meanwhile, sales of Volkwagen's luxury brand Audi surged by 10.5 percent to 1.741 million vehicles worldwide last year, said Audi chief executive in a statement.
