EU sees last chance for peaceful solution in Libya

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The outcome of this week's mission to Libya by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Bernardino Leon, "is encouraging," EU High Representative said Federica Mogherini here Saturday. "These developments, particularly the meeting scheduled to take place in Geneva next week, offer a crucial opportunity to bring key stakeholders together to find a peaceful solution based on dialogue. This represents a last chance which must be seized," she said in a declaration on behalf of the 28-member European bloc.

" Libya is at a crucial juncture; the different actors should be in no doubt of the gravity of the situation that the country finds itself in. The opportunity to establish a ceasefire and find a political solution should not be wasted," she noted.

Mogherini added that she is in regular contact with Leon and has assured him of the EU's support for his important work.
