Jordan, Egypt mull extremism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Jordanian King Abdullah II and visiting Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry discussed here on Saturday the reflections of extremism on regional security and stability, along with bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, they considered ongoing regional efforts to fight extremism and terrorist organizations and groups, and agreed to step up concerted moves in this regard, according to a royal statement.

All international parties are required to work together to provide the congenial atmosphere for revising peace efforts between both Palestinian and Israeli sides based on the two-state solution, it said.

On Syria and Iraq, they stressed the significance of finding an all-out political solution to the current crisis in Syria, and backing the Iraqi government's efforts against terrorist groups and factions, the statement added.

The Jordanian king also reiterated support for Egypt's regional role to serve the issues of both Arab and Muslim issues and to promote and bolster coordination and cooperation among Arab countries, it added.

For his part, the visiting Egyptian foreign minister said his country is keen to have continuing consultations with Jordan over several key issues of mutual interest.

He also appreciated Jordan's relentless support for Egypt under different circumstances, the royal statement pointed out.
