Bahrain parliament denounces remarks of Hezbollah chief

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmad bin Ibrahim Al-Mullah and the Shura Council strongly condemned on Saturday the defamatory statements made by Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, against Bahrain.

Nasrallah's remarks represent a flagrant interference in Bahrain's internal affairs and a threat to its national security," BNA news agency quoted Al-Mullah as saying in a statement. "The unjustified and recurrent stances of the terrorist militia; condemning the subversive support and training it provides to disrupt Bahrain's security," Al-Mullah affirmed, adding that "Bahrain is proud of its judicial system and constitutional establishments as a country of law and institutions.

"Bahrain will never be intimidated by any terrorist acts and threats. These flagrant statements lay bare the harboring of violence and incitement as well as the double standards of terrorist organization which will never compromise Bahrain's security, stability and national unity," he added.

Meanwhile, the Shura Council said in a separate statement that Nasrallah's remarks are meant to destabilize the security of the region.

The Council described the statements as a blatant and unacceptable interference in Bahrain's internal affairs and an encroachment on the kingdom's sovereignty.

It underlined categorical rejection of the statements which downplayed the constitutional and judicial systems in Bahrain.

It also underlined full support to all measures taken by Bahrain to protect its security and citizens.

The Council voiced confidence in Lebanon to take the necessary measures towards those hostile statements, stressing that awareness of the Bahraini people will always prevent sliding into divide and sedition.
