Spaniard David Ferrer wins Qatar ExxonMobil Tennis Open


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Spaniard David Ferrer won the Qatar ExxonMobil Tennis Open 2015 after beating Czeck Tomas Berdych in straight sets 6-4 and 7-5 on Saturday.

Chairman of Qatar Tennis Federation Nasser Al-Khulaifi handed the 10-seeded Ferrer the Golden Falcon trophy.

Ferrer broke Berdych's serve twice in the first set and pumping the score to 4-1, but the Czeck won the next set. However the Spaniard took control of the court and won the set 6-4 in 40 minutes.

The second set was more exciting with the score 5-5 only for Ferrer to advance and win the set 7-5 and the championship.

This is Ferrer's first Qatar Open title, succeeding his fellow Spandiard Rafael Nadal.

Ferrer said he was happy with the win and it was a good start for this year's season.
