(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Konstantin Maltsev continued his impressive run to pick up a fourth gold medal at the Qatar Cup for Shooting and Archery.
Yesterday, at the Losail Shooting Range on the final day of the championship, Konstantin won the 25m Centre Fire Pistol title.
The Qatar army shooter beat Mohamed Rakhimov Azizjon by 19 shots to win the top prize to complete the Qatar army shooters domination in the pistol events.
Earlier, Konstantin had won the gold medals in the 25m Standard Pistol, 10m Air Pistol, 25m Rapid Fire Pistol and also a bronze medal In the bronze medal shoot-off, Riaz Rustam Khan, overcame sharp pain in the shooting hand thumb to defeat Zafer Faraz Al Qahtani.
Coach Nurmyrat Hanov, who trains the shooters of Qatar army, was happy with the performance of his wards.
"The army team is doing very well in the pistol shooting. Konstantin is a brilliant shooter. He has won five medals, four gold and a bronze, which is very satisfying for us.
"The competition was tough but it could have been tougher if Oleg Engachev was here. The Asian Games gold medallist is on vacation at the moment," Nurmyrat said.
In other top draw event, gold medalist at Busan Asain Games Masoud Saleh emerged the champion in the Men's Skeet, beating Khalid Al Muhannadi in a 13-12 trilling finish. Saeed Abusharib won the bronze medal in an equally close 15-12 finish.
The Men's Trap title was claimed by Mohammed Dablan Al Adba, who beat Masoud Ali Al Adba 12-9. Masoud Hamad bagged the bronze medal.
Meanwhile in the archery events, Abdulaziz Al Abbasi won two gold medals. In the Compound competition, he defeated Ishraf Rustam and Ahmed Al Abbasi. He completed his double with a win over Ahmed Al Abbasi in the Olympic Round. The third place went to Farhan Al Assadi.
