King meets Egyptian foreign minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Saturday Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who conveyed to the King the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fatal el- Sisi.

The King voiced pride in the strong ties between Jordan and Egypt, stressing the Kingdom's full support to Egypt and its pivotal role in serving the issues important to the Arab nation, and for enhancing joint Arab action.

His Majesty and the Egyptian minister discussed efforts to counter extremists' ideologies and terrorist organizations that threaten the security and stability of the region and its peoples.

On the Middle East peace efforts, both sides stressed the need to create an appropriate climate to revive peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis based on the two-state solution, international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

On the situation in Iraq and Syria, the King and the Egyptian foreign minister affirmed the importance of reaching a political solution in Syria, and supporting efforts of the Iraqi government to fight terrorist organizations.

The Egyptian minister emphasized his country's keenness to continue cooperation and consultations with Jordan on various issues of common interest.

He also voiced Egypt's appreciation for Jordan's supportive stance that reflects the two countries' wish to strengthen bilateral ties.

The meeting was attended by the Royal Court chief, the foreign minister, the King's advisor for national security affairs, the director of the Intelligence Department, the director of the King's Office and the delegation accompanying the Egyptian minister.
