Oman hosts GCC Rail and Metro Conference 2015


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The GCC Rail and Metro Conference 2015 will kick off at the Al Bustan Palace hotel today under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al Said. The two-day event is hosted by the sultanate represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. 

The conference which will attract more than 500 personalities from 25 countries around the world will discuss socio-economic opportunities that can be benefited from such investments in a manner that guarantees to create a impact on the economy of the region and developing joint mechanisms to guarantee the success of implementing such projects from the technical and executive perspective.

The conference will host government officials from the Ministries of transport commerce industry and finance as well as executive officials from UAE Etihad Rail Saudi Railway company Qatar Railways company and Oman Railway company.

These companies will present the latest development reached in their projects and initiatives of localisation as well as participating in dynamic dialogue sessions that target key issues and opportunities in a manner that enables achieving an effective participation of the private sector.

The GCC railways project is one of the giant ambitious projects of which investments estimated by more than US$200bn for the upcoming ten years.
