France- Juncker, Mogherini to participate in silent march in Paris


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and EU High-Representative Federica Mogherini will travel to Paris on Sunday to participate in the Silent March in honour of the victims of the Charlie Hebdo attack, according to an European Commission statement tonight.

EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Dimitris Avramopoulos will participate in the International Ministerial meeting organised by the French Ministry of the Interior in Paris also on Sunday to discuss counterterrorism and foreign fighters.

This meeting will bring together European Ministers of Interior and the US Attorney General in order to discuss EU and international efforts to tackle challenges of common concern, noted the statement.

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will also be in Paris for the silent march.

Renzi received a phone call from French President Francois Hollande to brief him on the security operations that killed the gunmen who attacked the Charlie Hebdo. Renzi voiced complete solidarity with France.
