China, Brazil trade decline 6 percent in 2014

MENAFN) Brazilian Trade Ministry figures indicated that the trade between Brazil and China declined by 6 percent in 2014, after the peak that was registered in the previous year, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

Despite recent years seeing China overtake the United States as Brazil's leading trade partner on soaring demand for commodities including iron ore and soy, the fall in demand for these products in 2014 resulted in trade to decline.

In 2014, the bilateral totaled USD77.9 billion, a decline in comparison with the SD83.3 billion recorded a year earlier, though they were still above the 2011 and 2012 results.

Meanwhile, Brazilian exports to China declined 12 percent to reach USD40.6 billion, while imports to Latin America's largest economy from the Asian giant reached USD37.3 billion, an increase by 0.1 percent.
