The owners have named Alana Brody as the new president of MEI. Brody has a strong background in oncology having served as Senior Vice President for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) where she led medical education development. She has also developed oncology educational strategy for several independent providers of oncology medical education.

“We are excited to have Alana heading up the team at MEI” stated Anthony Cutrone one of the new owners of MEI and President of Harborside Press. “Her proven leadership in continuing education in the health professions combined with her deep knowledge of oncology will be an asset in this new chapter for MEI.

MEI founded by visionary educator Lois Trench-Hines is known to provide high-quality learning for the Oncology Nursing audience and has won many awards in this area. Terry Logan CCMEP will continue to serve in a leadership role as Executive Vice President/Chief Compliance officer.

In 2015 MEI will expand upon its competency in Oncology Nursing education and focus its efforts on providing certified continuing medical education to the highly sought-after audience of Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants who specialize in oncology. This group of professionals is growing in importance as key members of the health care team. At the recent annual meeting of the non-profit Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO) over 81% of the participants claimed that they have prescribing privileges. This combined with data published by the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) about the anticipated shortage of 2550 to 4080 oncologists by 2020 emphasizes the importance of appropriate education for this audience. As part of the acquisition MEI recently moved its offices from Conshohocken PA to Princeton NJ.
