Amir deserves title of 'humanitarian leader'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT Jan 8 (KUNA): Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi said Wednesday His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is a wonderful personality who deservedly won the UN humanitarian leader title last September. 'His Highness the Amir is always keen on maintaining concord among the Arab countries and promoting humanitarian action across the globe' Al-Sisi said in an interview with Kuwait TV tonight one day after his concluded visit to Kuwait.

Decades

'The special relationship between the Egyptian and Kuwait peoples dates back to long decades ago. Though it was my first visit to Kuwait I felt I was at home among my family and people' he said. The large numbers of Egyptian workers in Kuwait add significance to the special ties in all fields which grow day after day Al-Sisi noted affirming that the leaders he met during his visit expressed care for the bilateral ties.

On the Kuwaiti investments in Egypt Al-Sisi said they started to increase recently due to the new investment law. He called on Kuwaiti investors to take advantage of the law which is meant to cut red tape facilitate investment and settle the disputes leftover from the recent years.

On the Arab national security Al-Sisi said his visit to Kuwait proved that the Kuwaiti leaders share with Egypt the commitment to protect the security of the Gulf region and the other Arab countries. The Gulf security is in integral part of Egypt's security he said recalling his statements a few months ago that Egypt is ready to defend any Arab country at any time. He noted that the new investment promotion plan which aims to span the entire area of Egypt instead of the current six to seven percent of the total area.

On the economic conference due in Sharm El-Sheikh in March he said Egypt is preparing for the international event with a view to encouraging the Kuwaiti as well as other Arab and foreign investors to invest in the aforesaid projects.

Deals

'The conference is expected to lead to deals on major viable investment projects in these areas as well as the energy sector' he went on. Concluding his remarks Al-Sisi voiced hope that 'the brotherly people of Kuwait' will continue preserving the security and stability of their homeland and made more progress towards development and welfare.

Meanwhile Chile's House of Representatives hosted Kuwaiti Embassy's celebration of the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a 'Humanitarian Leader'. Addressing the House of Representatives late on Wednesday Kuwaiti Ambassador to Chile Reem Al- Khaled said that the State of Kuwait under the leadership of His Highness the Amir has been offering humanitarian aid to many countries in the world for many years.

Thanks to its humanitarian aid it has a leading position across the globe and so it was honored by the UN last year as a humanitarian center she added
