UAE- Work on AP capital to begin in June


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government has roped in Singapore to assist in preparing the master plan for the capital.

Even as controversies continued to dog the land-pooling system adopted by the Andhra Pradesh government for land acquisition State Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P Narayana has announced that works on construction of the new capital city will commence by the end of June and the first phase would be completed in three years.



The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government has roped in Singapore to assist in preparing the master plan for the capital coming up in Vijayawada-Guntur region in coastal Andhra.



“We will start the works once the Singapore firm that was entrusted with the task of preparing Master Plan for the capital submits its report” the minister said.



The minister said “The objective is to build a city which is not just political and administrative capital but also a socio-economic and cultural capital of the state. We want to develop a capital that will be the pride of the State and envy of others. It will be a world number one city.”



Tullur in the coastal Guntur district has been selected for locating the key infrastructure of the capital city given its central location and proximity to Krishna River Narayana said. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to invite Singapore’s Second Minister for Home Affairs S Iswaran to visit Tullur on June 13 and 14. However a final decision in this regard is yet to be taken.
