Higher Education Ministry responds to "Show Compassion" campaign


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has responded to the campaign " Show Compassion", launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to provide warmth for a million refugees and those affected by the storm currently affecting the Levant, which will increase in strength over the coming days.

The Government Communication Department in the Ministry announced, in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent, a campaign within the Ministry starting from Thursday the 8th of January 2015, to collect donations from all staff and employees of the Ministry such as winter clothing, blankets and food items, and financial contributions so that it can purchase warm coverings, no later than Monday 12th of January 2015.

A national work force consisting of the major relief agencies in the State, Government agencies and mainstream media, was urgently formed to begin implementing the campaign, which set a goal to provide warmth for a million refugees and victims during the winter season. The campaign will include many community, media and relief activities during the coming period. The special work force includes the Emirates Red Crescent, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, the International Humanitarian City, and Dubai Cares, in addition to the Abu Dhabi Media and Dubai Media Incorporated and all local newspapers and radio stations.
