(MENAFN) The UAE aviation sector is expected to continue minting its momentum in terms of launching more routes and increasing in frequencies as the sector is prepared to add more than 50 planes this year, Khaleej Times reported.
The increase in plane deliveries to the UAE carriers happens after Emirates airline already received 27 deliveries worth around USD10 billion in 2014 and adding 13 Airbus A380s, 12 Boeing 777-300ERs and two 777 Freighters, resulting in the carrier having a total fleet size of 232 aircraft at present and in 2015, the airline expects 26 deliveries worth around USD10 billion, with the carrier set to induct 15 superjumbos, 10 Boeing 777 and one 777 Freighter.
In 2014, Dubai-based low-cost airline flydubai received 8 Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft worth around USD746.4 million, increasing its fleet size to reach 43 aircraft by the end of last month, while in 2015, the carrier is set to receive the remaining 7 Boeing 737s from its 2008 order of 50 aircraft worth USD4 billion.
During 2014, Air Arabia received 9 Airbus A320 aircraft worth nearly USD845 million , thus bringing its total fleet to 38 aircraft by the end of 2014, while in 2015, the carrier is expected to place an order for 6 more A320s.
Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways received 16 aircraft in the first three quarters of 2014in addition to receiving its first A380 and 787 Dreamliner last month, with future deliveries including 71 Boeing 787 Dreamliner, nine Airbus A380s, 62 Airbus A350, 34 A320, 25 Boeing 777 among others.
