Royal Oman Police News: Seven held for drug possession, trade


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Seven persons including five nationals have been arrested on charges of drug possession and trade from different parts of the country.

The five nationals were caught in North Batinah with marijuana and heroin. An Asian national was arrested in Seeb with 91 heroin capsules and 14 psychotropic drugs. A Gulf national was also arrested from Haima with marijuana in his handbag.

One held in Ma'abela murder case

Al Khoudh police has arrested an Asian national from Amerat on charges of murder a day after receiving news that a body had been found in an under-construction building in Ma'abela. The man confessed to the crime and has been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Sixty-seven illegal immigrants of various nationalities were arrested from across the country and 40 deported during the past week. The ROP has called on the public to come forward with information on illegal immigrants as they pose security and health risk to the society.

Bid to smuggle fake cigarettes foiled

Customs officials have foiled a bid by a national to smuggle in fake cigarettes through a land border crossing. As many as 300 cartons of 'Royal' cigarettes were found hidden under the rear seats of the 4WD he was driving. He has been detained and necessary legal procedures have been initiated.
