UAE- Stage set lineups declared for Deira Festival

Dubai — Fifty-four horses have been declared to make the lineups in the sixth meeting of the season Deira Festival as the faithful fans of the Yellow Track celebrate the New Year at the outskirts of the city with plenty on offer on and off the track on Friday afternoon.

“I would like to congratulate The President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the wise leadership of the country and wish them a Happy New Year” said Mirza Al Sayegh director of the office of Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.

Speaking to newsmen at the Ballroom at the racecourse on Tuesday Al Sayegh said the Shadwell will continue to support Jebel Ali races as part of its commitment towards the development of the sport of the kings in the country.

“Under the directives of Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum we are delighted to sponsor the Jebel Ali Stakes ‘Listed’ the feature race of the afternoon which carries a total purse of Dh500000” he said.

Al Sayeg who has returned from London having honoured the UK media members who have won the Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Trophies reiterated that the Jebel Ali races are very important for the preparation of their horses for their European summer campaign. Sharief Al Halawani general manager of the Jebel Ali racecourse promised the race goers and their families to make it a memorable day out for them and urged the spectators to arrive as early as possible to the venue to enjoy the special festivity which will be staged by the organisers.

“There are 130 valuable prizes which will be drawn in-between the six races that we promise to be exciting. Al Abbar General Contracting Company provides 10 cash prizes for lucky racegoers and a brand new car will be raffled after the end of the sixth race. Free gifts will be distributed to the valuable guests with the free pick-six competition coupons at the entry gates” Al Halawani said.

In the meantime the first race has attracted 10 runners and will be sponsored by School Transport Services for a total purse of Dh40000.

Al Hudhaiba Contracting Company sponsors the second Dh110000-race and Shadwell are the sponsors of the main third race.

The fourth race will be sponsored by ASCANA for Dh85000 Admore Trading sponsors the fifth race for Dh65000 and Romeo Interiors sponsors the final race for Dh110000.
