UAE- Woman wins Dh5 million in Duty Free Shoppers draw

Abu Dhabi: An Indian woman was pleasantly surprised when she received Dh5 million as her New Year gift.

Gulzar Shaikh 34 from Goa India was left speechless when a call from the Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Duty Free Shoppers (DFS) gave her the news that she had won the ‘Ultimate Big Ticket’ draw — the region’s largest ever cash draw with Dh5 million grand prize. “I am truly amazed. All I can say is that this is certainly a real surprise a great start to the New Year” said the lucky winner once she was told she was now a millionaire.

The much-awaited draw held at the Abu Dhabi Airport Arrivals Hall in the presence of DFS managing director Glen; Alistair Johnson DFS general manager; Chris Rawsthorne assistant general manager; Sheryl Fajardo Big Ticket Manager; and representatives from Abu Dhabi Airports attracted thousands of people who purchased an ‘Ultimate Big Ticket’.

In addition to the fortune awarded to the main winner the ‘Ultimate Big Ticket’ competition launched last December by Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) and managed by DFS also gave away 14 additional prizes totaling Dh500000.

“We are happy to announce the winners to the ‘Ultimate Big Ticket’ a very successful initiative that performed even better than its previous edition the ‘Sensational Big Ticket’ introduced back in 2012” said Alistair who broke the news to the lucky winner.

Next in line is the ‘Bigger Big Ticket’ – another cash draw initiative by ADDF and managed by DFS.
