Oman, Iran in talks to boost bilateral trade


(MENAFN) Ithara, Oman's government-run organization responsible for promoting the country's non-oil exports and assisting companies invest in the Sultanate, said that it had held a meeting with a delegation from Iran's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Mines to discuss on ways of enhancing bilateral trade relations, Times of Oman reported.

Ithara said that the main goal of the meeting was to discuss ways of boosting the business links between Oman and Iran to a new level and increase awareness of the business opportunities in both countries.

Iran, which has an abundance of natural resources; particularly oil, natural gas and mineral resources , is Its ranked third and second highest in the world in its oil and natural gas reserves, respectively, as well as having a GDP of USD1.2 trillion and being the world's 18th largest economy.

The two sides also discussed ways of increasing their cooperation in different sectors which included pharmaceuticals, food, agriculture, auto spare parts, machinery and infrastructure suppliers and mechanical engineering.
