(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the Hamdan Championship for children with Down Syndrome has been launched with the participation of various nationalities from both within and outside the country.
In a statement on the occasion, Sonia Al Hashimi, President of the Board of Directors of the UAE Down Syndrome Association, said that Sheikh Hamdan directed the establishment of a sports council for people with Down Syndrome, under his honorary presidency. The council will be working on the organisation of sporting events and activities for people with Down Syndrome.
She added, "The continuous support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for people with Down syndrome is a source of inspiration and determination to all, and his decision to make the council under his honorary presidency, represents His Highness' limitless support." Al Hashimi went on to say that the previous participation of the Crown Prince of Dubai in a sports day for people with Down Syndrome was a celebration for all, which left a big impact and boosted their self-confidence dramatically.
