Kuwait- Gov't seeks new wage system, approves executive sport plan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The government seeks to introduce a wage system that would gaurantee a just pay raise coupled with linking financial incentives with employees' performance, while on the other hand approving an executive plan to develop sport in Kuwait.

The cabinet, in its weekly meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, was briefed by a team about discrepencies surrounding current salary system, which was consuming 12 percent of the budget every year.

The salary system is also affected by numerous special allowances and discrepencies among similir job discriptions which "create a kind of unjustified injustice," Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah said in a statement after the cabinet meeting.

The team explained that a new wage system would guarantee justice in terms of pay thus boost productivity and improve performance.

The team members proposed a new evaluation system that would link financial incentives with performance, and guarantee well-studied pay raise consistent with increase of prices, noted Sheikh Mohammad.

Meanwhile, the cabinet approved the Public Authority for Youth and Sports' (PAYS) executive plan to improve sport in Kuwait.

Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah said in his presentation of the executive plan that it would revive training centers between PAYS and Ministry of Education, regulate all sport meetings and competitions in and outside Kuwait.

Sheikh Salman said the plan aimed at developng the Youth Centers, promoting importance of sport in society, supporting youth players in schools, forming a higher anti-doping committee, developing sport medicine center and launching health insurance for national teams' players.

Sheikh Mohammad said the cabinet assigned PAYS to prepare a comprehensive study over the privatization of sport clubs.

On the other hand, His Highness the Prime Minister briefed the cabinet about outcome of Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi's visit to Kuwait and his talks with His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince regarding the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation.

The cabinet, said Sheikh Mohammad, underlined Egypt's important role in safeguarding regional peace, security and stability.

The cabinet, meanwhile took note of letters sent by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Finnish Prime Minister Cai-Goran Alexander Stubb to His Highness the Prime Minister.
