Islamabad: Senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Makhdoom Amin Fahim has expressed serious concerns over the “dismal” performance of the Sindh government but said he would not give up on the party.

Speaking to the media after meeting the PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House he said “We and our elders have rendered sacrifices for strengthening the PPP. How can I part ways with it” he questioned adding that the report about his differences with the PPP leadership was pure speculation. Fahim triggered speculations when he publicly criticised PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari’s decision to nominate Sherry Rehman as deputy president of PPP-Parliamentrians saying he was not taken into confidence.

Later Fahim called on former military ruler Gen. Pervez Musharraf evoking Zardari’s ire who said Musharraf was trying to divide the PPP. Media reports said Fahim was trying to form a new coalition with the help of the MQM PPP dissidents and some small groups in the Sindh Assembly to remove chief minister Qaim Ali Shah.
