German diplomat lauds 'Jobs on Air' program
(MENAFN- Arab News) German Embassy deputy head of mission Michael Ohnmacht has lauded the new program 'Jobs on Air' scheduled to run from 9 to 11 p.m. on the Saudi-owned Al-Danah TV network every Tuesday night.
'It's a good program as it aims to provide employment opportunities to jobless young male and female Saudis with the participation of various organizations' said Ohnmacht who is also the German Embassy's consul general.
Ohnmacht made the statement on the sidelines of the investment forum at the Riyadh Marriott Hotel on Tuesday on the occasion of the visit of the NRW Invest representatives.
The NRW Invest is the investment agency of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Ohmacht noted that German universities also train Saudis studying in Germany so that they could be employed in German companies when they come back to the Kingdom after graduation.
He said that more than 50 Saudi students recently participated in the second job forum at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Frankfurt for placement in German firms in the Kingdom.
The event was organized by the German Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO) in collaboration with the Saudi Consulate in Frankfurt and the Cultural Department of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Berlin.
Mohsin Shaikh Al-Hassan program host and well-known Islamic scholar said that participants in the 'Jobs on Air' program included representatives from four organizations seeking to find jobs for orphans the handicapped prisoners and the blind.
Four universities were also represented in the program to find jobs for their students following graduation. These include the Al-Yamamah University Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University Prince Sultan University and King Saudi University (KSU).
The universities have their own training centers for their students to make sure that their graduates get jobs after leaving the university.
Local companies will also participate in the program by training unemployed Saudis and offering them jobs after they have acquired the required skills for the jobs they have applied for.
