Turkish secret service recovers kidnapped officer

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Monday the national intelligence service (MIT) managed to bring back Ozgur Orsun, a Turkish army officer who went missing after crossing the borders into Syria during an anti-smuggling operation four days ago.

Orsun is now safe and sound and on the way back home, Davutoglu tweeted.

The Prime Minister congratulated Orsun's family and the armed forces on the successful intelligence operation, saying: "I'd like to convey my regards to our soldier and the MIT, as well as his family and our Turkish Armed Forces." Turkish media accused the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) of being behind the kidnapping but Brig.-Gen. Ertugrul Ozkurkcu, of the General Staff, said there were no confirmed information on the abductors.
