King opens Gendarmerie Cavalry Unit


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army, Monday opened the premises of the Gendarmerie Cavalry Unit, which was formed within the Gendarmerie Department's 10-year plan.

On his arrival, the King was welcomed by Director General of the Gendarmerie Department, Major General Ahmad Ali AL Sweilmeen and his aides.

His Majesty unveiled a commemorative plaque and was briefed by the commander of the unit on the duties and tasks carried out by members of the unit.

Major General Al Sweilmeen said the King's opening of the unit is part of his keenness to develop the Gendarmerie Department and improve their capabilities to enable them to carry out their duties in a professional manner.

King Abdullah also watched an exercise that was carried out by members of the unit that reflected the advanced level they have reached.

His Majesty voiced his pride in members of the gendarmerie, who carry out their duties efficiently to preserve the accomplishments of the country.

The ceremony was attended by Commander of the Special Police, His Royal Highness Prince Rashid Al Hassan and Commander of the Portuguese National Guard, Lt. Gen. Manuel Mateus.
