(MENAFN) UAE's Dana Gas, said that it has received USD60 million from the Egyptian government, in a payment that represents 28 percent of the total overdue receivables of USD212 million which the government owes the company, Gulf Daily News reported.
The company said that this money, as well as the other expected payments, would be used to deal with its overdue industry receivables, fund future investment requirements and address operational expenses in Egypt.
The payments come after Dana Gas and the Egyptian government signed a gas production enhancement agreement (GPEA) in 2014 which allows the company to significantly enhance production and gradually recover its outstanding receivables in a phased manner over a three-year period.
The agreement also allows the company to make investments in a development program which aims to increase production from its current levels of around 40.000 barrels of oil per day from the company's development leases in the Nile Delta.
