Blast in playground kills five, wounds 10 N. Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least five people including a child were killed and 10 others wounded on Sunday in a blast at a playground in Lower Orakzai Agency, northern Pakistan, said officials.

According to Political administration, the blast occurred at Hussainia ground in Kadda Bazaar area of Kalya during a volleyball match. Political Tehsildar, Khiasta Akbar told media that the blast appeared to be carried out through a planted device.

He further said that there was a match going on between Mani Khel and Farangi Kalley teams, and there were lot of people in ground at the time of the explosion. Officials suspected that the blast could be an act of target killing with sectarian motives.

Orakzai is one of Pakistan's seven semi-autonomous tribal regions governed by tribal laws and facing militants' insurgency. Earlier in 2010, a blast during volleyball match in Laki Marwat area killed over 100 people in the northern Pakistani province.
