Abbas calls Arabs, Muslims, Christians to visit Jerusalem

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas called on Arabs, Muslims and Christians from the around the world to visit Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem (Al-Quds), the city chosen as the Islamic Tourist Capital for 2015.

"I commend the decision to select Al-Quds as a capital of Islamic tourism for the year 2015 ... and welcome the Arab, Muslim and Christian brothers to Al-Quds and to pray in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the church and worshipping places," Abbas said in a speech at the opening of "Al-Quds In Memory" Sunday.

"Al-Quds is the key to peace, and it has been a city of co-existence for ages, welcoming peaceful visitors and rejecting insane indvadors. We want it a city of peace and gate for peace," he added.

The Palestinians seek to have East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestine State on the June 4 1967 borders.

Abbas said there would not be peace in the region without Jerusalem "and the occupiers know this fact but they stall to judaize it and drive their people out of it." He blamed the UN Security Council (UNSC) for failing the Palestinians to put an end to the Israeli occupation. He was referring to the UNSC failure to adopt a draft resolution that would have put a timetable to end the occupation and establish the Palestine State.

The failure triggered the Palestinians to join the International Criminal Court (ICC), to allow them sue the Israelis for their crimes against the Palestinian people in the Palestinian lands.
