US drone strike kills 10 militants in N. Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A United States led drone strike on Sunday killed at least ten suspected militants in North Waziristan tribal region of northern Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, said reports.

According to local media reports, the drone strike targeted a compound belonging to a local Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander in Shawal valley area of North Waziristan. The unmanned aircraft fired two missiles at the compound killing the TTP commander and nine others, said reports.

North Waziristan is among Pakistan's seven tribal regions near the Afghan border governed by tribal laws and facing militants' insurgency. Drone attacks are widely unpopular across Pakistan and the country condemned the drone strikes several times declaring it violation of its territorial sovereignty.
