Dubai's DDF sales hits USD1.91b in 2014


(MENAFN) Dubai Duty Free said that it has recorded record sales of USD1.91 billion during 2014, an increase by 7.36 percent compared with 2013, Arabian Business reported.

The airport retailer said that its sales in December set a new monthly sales record by reaching USD203.89 million, representing a 7 percent increase over the same month in 2013.

The operation recorded 26,995,367 sales transactions in 2014, which is an average of 73,960 sales transactions per day across both Dubai International and at Al Maktoum International, Dubai World Central.

In terms of commodities, perfume retained its position as the best-selling
category, followed liquor and gold, while cosmetics sales registered an increase by 19 percent and watches sales rose by 9 percent.

"We are thrilled to announce such a positive year during which the operation went from strength to strength." Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free said.
