(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) A US drone Sunday killed eight militants
in the first strike of the new year, targeting al-Qaeda heartlands
redoubts in north-western Pakistan, officials said, according to dpa.
The unmanned aircraft hit a compound in North Waziristan tribal
region, hours after Pakistani fighter jets killed 31 Taliban rebels
in the neighboring Khyber district, a military official said.
The drone fired missiles at the compound being used by
militants linked with al-Qaeda, an intelligence official said.
