Qatar- Deputy PM attends Brazil President's inauguration


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs

H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud attended the inauguration ceremony of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff at the presidential palace in Brasilia.

Several heads of state and government and senior officials and personalities were present.

Representing Qatar, Al Mahmoud conveyed the greetings of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Rousseff and wishes of further progress in relations.

Rousseff asked Al Mahmoud to convey her greetings to the Emir and thanks for Qatar's participation in the inauguration.

Qatari Ambassador Mohammed Ahmed Al Hayki was also present.

Rousseff was elected for a second term last October.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Al Mahmoud met US Vice-President Joe Biden and discussed issues of mutual interest.
