According to the Adec the new recruits — school leaders teachers and administrators — form part of the strategy to Emiratise school-based jobs.

“The Adec is pleased to increase the number of Emirati talent across its public schools…The recruitment of 1485 educators across our public schools will help increase competition in the education sector and will intensify Emiratisation plans as per the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030” said Dr Amal Al Qubaisi Director-General of the council.

The Adec said it received an overwhelming response after placing job vacancy positions on its website. From these applicants the council recruited 52 female and three male school leaders 960 female and 74 male administrators 372 female and 24 male teachers with a total number of 1485 educators.

“The Adec is constantly striving to help advance its teachers school leaders and educators as part of advancing the economic and industrial growth of the UAE. The development of Emirati human capital is on the top of our agenda as a council and we will continue to recruit competent and professional candidates in suitable positions that will have an everlasting effect on our youth” said Dr Al Qubaisi.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri Adec’s Executive Director of School Operations explained that the Emirati candidates were recruited according to their specialty and experience.

“Our aim is to qualify and empower each and every single candidate to perform their jobs as best as they can. For that reason the Abu Dhabi Education Council’s School Operations sector is closely monitoring their progress and assisting them through a hands-on-training programme that will help support them throughout their careers in their schools” he said.

In addition to their new positions Emirati school leaders will be offered various professional development opportunities that will help empower them in the field some of which include a scholarship programme developmental and career guidance support.

Al Dhaheri noted that recruitment of special education teachers was a top priority. “Part of the Adec’s strategy is to integrate special needs students into public and private schools. For that reason we have collaborated with the Emirates Foundation and the Higher Colleges of Technology to recruit highly qualified special education teachers.”

The initiative to recruit and attract Emirati teachers to the education sector is a joint effort between the Adec Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council public universities and colleges (UAE University Emirates College for Advanced Education Zayed University and Higher Colleges of Technology - Abu Dhabi Vocational Training Institute) Emirates Foundation (Takatof) and TAWDHEEF.
