More Studies Conducted To See Effects Of Turmeric In Oxidative Stress

(MENAFNEditorial) Natural supplements such as turmeric have continually been outperforming pharmaceutical products in many areas around the globe. More and more people are relying natural supplements to manage health conditions. Due to the increasing popularity of the natural medicine more scientists and researchers are also investigating potential applications for certain plants.

In particular more studies are being conducted to test the effects of turmeric in oxidative stress. Some studies showed that the spice could potentially reduce free radical damage. These studies used animals as subjects such as rats.

"Turmeric is a fascinating spice for many scientists and health experts. They believe that it offers numerous therapeutic benefits that are ideal for individuals who are suffering from a wide variety of ailments" said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson Michelle O'Sullivan.

An eight-week study published in the Basic and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology journal found that turmeric could indeed be highly beneficial. The study focused on two groups of mice that suffered from lead toxicity. The first group received turmeric while the other did not. Findings showed the group that received turmeric experienced significant decreases in oxidative stress.

Turmeric contains an active ingredient known as curcumin which is widely known to be the major source of the spice's therapeutic benefits. Herbal companies nowadays manufacture curcumin supplements to make these therapeutic benefits widely available. Curcumin usage has been linked to a number of health benefits including the protection against heart failure arthritis diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.

"Oxidative stress can cause a lot of damage in the body and this is why many natural health experts are recommending the use of turmeric. The spice is believed to have anti-inflammatory anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties" added O'Sullivan.

Certain medical conditions can be caused by free radical damage such as heart failures heart attacks Alzheimer's disease diabetes arthritis cataracts and lung conditions. Studies suggest that turmeric may have the ability to reduce free radical damage which may in turn reduce the risk for these diseases.

Curcumin supplements are widely available in various formulas. Experts recommend that those who want to take advantage of turmeric's healing properties should make a well-informed decision in buying a product. They suggest that consumers choose products that contain BioPerine. BioPerine is a black pepper extract that is widely believed to have the ability to increase absorption of nutrients such as curcumin (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI).
