Dubai - A man who allegedly stabbed his friend to death six years ago and fled the country was arrested when he returned to the UAE in May 2014.
The Dubai Public Prosecution referred the suspect an Indian identified as M.F.A 28 to the Dubai Criminal Court of first instance on the charge of premeditated murder. The crime was discovered three years after being committed when the Dubai Police found the decomposed body of the victim in a deserted area.
The case dates to March 2011 when a pedestrian informed the police that he came across a decomposed body in a deserted area near Jebel Ali Seaport gate. After conducting a post-mortem the police suspected foul play behind the death of the victim an Indian identified as R.S.N whose highly decomposed body was discovered in 2011 three years after he was killed.
Police investigations revealed that the victim was reported as absconding from his sponsor in 2010 and one of the person who knew R.S.N told the police that the victim was constantly involved in financial disputes with his roommate who was also his colleague. On searching for the colleague M.F.A the police learnt the he had left the UAE in 2010. The police then issued an all-points bulletin to apprehend M.F.A at all the entry points of the UAE.
On May 2014 M.F.A arrived at Sharjah Airport and was arrested and referred to the Criminal Investigations Department. During interrogation he initially denied having any knowledge about the absence of his roommate but later confessed to the crime. Giving the details of his crime M.F.A told the police that he murdered R.S.N in September 2008 as he had some personal dispute with him. He said on the fateful night he learnt that R.S.N along with a friend was sitting near the beach and drinking alcohol. M.F.A went to the spot hiding a kitchen knife under his clothes. A fight ensued between the two and R.S.N broke a liquor bottle and stabbed M.F.A but the latter also attacked the victim with the kitchen knife he was carrying and stabbed R.S.N to death. Although the third unidentified person (who was sitting with the victim) tried to stop M.F.A but to no avail.
M.F.A then along with the third unidentified person buried the body.
The defendant showed the police the site of the crime and the place where the victim’s body was buried. He was referred to the public prosecution which charged him with premeditated murder and sent him to stand trial. His accomplice was also charged for aiding the suspect in hiding the body of the victim and covering up the crime.— salahkhaleejtimes.com
