Saudi- Azizia Deccan Hyderabad Royals in final of JCT


(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: The fourth season of Jeddah Champions Trophy cricket tournament organized by team Azizia Deccan and sponsored by Ford Al Jazirah vehicles under the co-sponsorship of SBL Trading Powerbar and Empower Contracting has reached its last leg with the finals to be played between hosts Azizia Deccan and Hyderabad Royals.

Having won 5 matches each on their way to the finals both the teams put in some outstanding team work to nail out 2 of the tournaments best teams in the semifinals at Sulemania grounds here in Jeddah.

Hyderabad Royals got the better of Eithad Jeddah Cricket Club by 38 runs while Azizia eased past Jeddah Warriors by 29 runs.In the first semifinal played between Hyderabad Royals and Etihad Jeddah CC the former put in to bat were reduced to 45 for 7 in 9 overs with Muzaffar taking 4 wickets for 12 runs but some belligerent stroke making by Man-of-the-Match Ishtiyaq (46 off 19 balls) in the final overs made sure Hyderabad Royals had a healthy 108 to defend.

In reply Etihad never looked in the hunt losing wickets at regular intervals to be eventually bowled out for 70 with Abrar being the destroyer in chief picking up 4 wickets for 14 runs.

In the second semifinal between hosts Azizia Deccan and Jeddah Warriors CC Azizia Deccan having elected to bat first managed to score a decent 100 runs in their allotted 15 overs thanks mainly to a patient 36 by Minhaj who shared a solid partnership of 35 with fellow opener Idrish (15 off 16 balls).

In reply though JWCC started off in tremendous fashion scoring 16 runs of the first over but Man of the match Amjad Khan made sure JWCC never ran away with the match as he picked up 3 wickets conceding 7 runs in 3 overs in a superb spell of fast bowling alongside Rahish who picked up 2 wickets for 16 runs.

Hyderabad Royals 108 for 9 in 15 overs: (Ishtiyaq 46; Muzaffar 4 for 12 Ammar 2 for 25) beat Etihad Jeddah CC 70 for 9 in 15 overs: Rehan 11 Ammar 11 Abrar (4 for 14) Imtiyaz (2 for 16) by 38 runs.

Man of the Match: Ishtiyaq.

Azizia Deccan 100 for 9 in 15 overs: (Minhaj 36 Asif Agwan 16; Aneesh Prasad 2 for 15 Mohammed Ameer 2 for 16) beat Jeddah Warriors CC 71 off 13.4 overs: (Aneesh Lathief 16 Noushad 14; Amjad Khan 3 for 7 Rahish 2 for 16) 29 runs.
