Seoul Welcome Change in Pyongyang's Position on Bilateral Ties

(MENAFN- QNA) South Korean government welcomed change in North's position on bilateral relations, stressing at the same time the necessity that Pyongyang accepts Seoul's proposal in favor of dialogue and cooperation between them, a South Korean statement said today.

This came after a keynote speech given by Kim Jong-un, leader of North Korea, on New Year's Day, in which he stated that his country is keen on improving bilateral relations with its southern neighbor through a series of dialogues, particularly the summit meeting between the two Koreas.

The South Korean government said that if North Korea wants to improve bilateral relations, it has to accept Seoul's proposal as soon as possible, adding that it is still interested in continuing dialogue and cooperation between the two Koreas in order to strengthen diplomatic relations and achieve unity and peace in the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia.
