Kenya's improves 5.5 percent in Q3 of 2014

(MENAFN) Kenya's economy is expected to boost by 5.5 percent during the third quarter of 2014 compared to a revised growth of 6.2 percent in the same period of 2013, the national statistics bureau said, Xinhua reported.

The Kenya Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) showed that the growth was mainly supported by strong expansions of activities in construction, finance and insurance, wholesale and retail trade, information and communication, and agriculture.

"All the sectors of the economy recorded positive growths except accommodation and food services, which has consistently been on the decline since last year," the bureau said in its latest quarterly report received on Wednesday.

The bureau said that the third quarter growth was slowed by the accommodation and resturants service sector whose activity recorded a 14.6 percent decline compared to a contraction of 3.9 percent during the same quarter of 2013.
