NBO appoints the first female Omani chief risk officer


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) National Bank of Oman (NBO) has announced the appointment of Salma Salim Said al Jaaidi as its new chief risk officer effective January 1 2015 subject to regulatory approvals. 

The appointment of an Omani woman as a chief risk officer is a first in Oman's banking industry. This announcement is part of the bank's succession plan for senior executives and commitment to supporting Omani talent and empowering women to take up senior leadership roles in the bank.

With a career spanning over 29 years with various leading financial institutions Salma al Jaaidi an MBA holder joined National Bank of Oman in 2003 and has led various divisions within the bank's risk management group and most recently served as the deputy chief risk officer.

Commenting on this announcement Ahmed al Musalmi CEO NBO said 'We remain committed to identifying and promoting Omani talent and developing a strong pipeline of future business leaders while encouraging gender diversity at the senior management level and Salma's appointment demonstrates this commitment.
